Education

The most important things in life are often the least quantifiable.

We evangelize about the importance of Music Education to anyone who will listen. Why? Because creativity is perhaps the most important skill, after numeracy and literacy, that 21st Century education systems should provide. Music and the arts are some of the most effective vehicles for imparting this skill. Don't just take it from us. Listen to Sir Ken Robinson:
Though we're performers first and foremost, we work directly with specialist music educators on a wide range of initiatives, and each Fifth Quadrant project can be adapted to become an educational workshop or event.

We have loads of music education experience too: Daniel Swain, David Worswick and Simon Hewitt Jones performed for many years as members of Yehudi Menuhin's Live Music Now organization, performing hundreds of outreach events throughout the United Kingdom. Most of our other regular partners and guest musicians have worked extensively with education departments of leading UK orchestras and arts companies, including the London Symphony Orchestra's Discovery program, and the Royal Opera House's Education department.

All of Fifth Quadrant's regular guest performers have many years' experience of private, one to one teaching. Simon has been working for several years now on groundbreaking education projects in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including videoconference tuition with violin students and live performances in the Gaza Strip.
