The Virtuoso Violin
Since their days studying together at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Simon and David's shared love of 'virtuoso' violin music (i.e. very, very fast music with lots of notes) has led to an enduring double-act, featuring the music of Paganini, Wieniawski, Piazzolla, and many other notable composers. For several years, they performed for Yehudi Menuhin's 'Live Music Now' organisation, giving hundreds of outreach performances at venues all around the country. During this time, they performed at many leading festivals and on radio, and at venues big and small throughout the UK (and sometimes further afield) including an epic national tour in 2006/7 (ask them for the stories!).
After a break of a couple of years to work on other projects, during which time David joined the London Symphony Orchestra and Simon created ViolinSchool, they reunited in 2012 for performances in the UK and Switzerland, and have since continued to collaborate with an expanding set of repertoire including several of David's own arrangements, plus an extensive selection of four octave arpeggios, available in a wide variety of flavours. |
